Ocheltree

Ocheltree was “laid out” in 1867 by a company, which included a William A. Ocheltree who the community was named after. Ocheltree was located on the Missouri River, Fort Scott and Gulf Railroad about eight miles south of Olathe. Ocheltree’s first building was built between 1857-1858 and the post office was established in 1870. Eventually Ocheltree became known as the Spring Hill Station, since Spring Hill residents often traveled to Ocheltree for their mail and the train. Ocheltree”s post office was closed in 1954.
