Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant was first settled in the late 1860s. It is thought that the community was named after its “high ridge” and that it was indeed “pleasant”. By 1895 the community started its decline when the Methodist Episcopal Church decided to discontinue church services on account they couldn't find a new minister. The congregation eventually merged with the Methodist Church in Gardner.
