Holliday

Holliday was located in the north part of Monticello, which was in the western part of the county. The “unincorporated community” was established at the junction of two railroad lines of the Atchinson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. When the community was first established it was called Waseca, but changed to Holliday in 1885. The name change was to honor the railroad magnate, who supervised the laying of the tracks through the area. The post office was established on June 26, 1882.
