William Fisher, Jr.
William Fisher, Jr. was born in Boon co., Ky., in 1832. While attending Bartlett’s Commercial College in Cincinnati he was employed by the American Fur Co. as bookkeeper and immediately came to Westport in ’51 and for three years acted as bookkeeper then until ’57 he was engaged by the Company inspecting and buying furs, attending Indian Payments, etc. and when the country was opened for settlement, he took a claim South of the Methodist Mission, subsequently took the claim now known as the Fair Ground south west of Olathe; was one of the charter members of the Olathe town company; the first Probate Judge of the county. From ’61 to ’65 he freighted government stores from Fort Leavenworth to Fort Union, New Mexico; and since ’65 has been engaged in farming in McCamish Township. January 1st ’64 he married Miss Levantia Dille of McCamish, Township. They have one child—Miss Corgie. A view of his residence will be seen on page 63.
