Isaac S. Farris

Isaac S. Farris was born in Barren county, Ky., Sept. 5, 1839, near the Mammoth Cave. His parents emigrated to Platt co., Mo., in ’41; moved to Andrew co. in ’44, where he remained until 19 years of age. In the spring of ’58 came to Leavenworth, and in the winter of ’59 came to Johnson County; in December, ’60 married Elizabeth Kenton. His occupation, when not in the militia as commissary and forage master, was farming and running a threshing machine. In the fall of ’65 was elected to the office of Register of Deeds, which office he held for eight years—being re-elected three times. Mr. Farris is now in the abstract business at Olathe.
