John Andrew DeTar
John Andrew DeTar was born in Westmoreland co., Penn., in 1827. Went to Iowa; and came to this county in May ’57. In ’52 he married Miss M. E. Darrah, who died in ’60; he married Mrs. Sarah W. Gardner in ’62. Mr. D. lived an exemplary member of the Methodist church for over twenty years, and died March 3rd ’73, leaving a widow and eleven children—the united families of his first and second marriage. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity, and identified with its works of benevolence.
