B. F. DeTar
B. F. DeTar was born in Westmoreland co., Penn., July 16, 1835, the eighth of a family of eleven children, being of Franco-German origin; emigrated to Tuscarawas co., O., in ’51; to Lee co., Iowa, in ’52; and to Kansas in ’57, locating upon his present homestead in McCamish township. In the fall of ’60 his house was destroyed by fire, in his absence, burning all his effects; and two years later his granary, containing the result of two years’ labor, was destroyed by fire. April 13, ’58, he was married to Miss Sarah Darrah, of Jefferson co., Penn.
