Peter Cochran

Peter Cochran was born Dec. 17, 1819, in Perry County, Ohio. In ’48 he emigrated to Noble co., Indiana; to Iowa in ’63 and to Kansas in ’68, locating in Olathe. Here he in connection with Mr. S. R. Burch, purchased the Hayes House, rebuilt the same, and opened it under the name of American House in ’69, since which time the house has been open for the accommodation of the public, and the proprietors have established an enviable reputation for their house; being courteous and obliging, they are ever ready to cater to the wants of their many guests. They are gentlemen in every sense of the word, and deserve well of the people of the county. A view of the hotel will be seen on page 75 of this work. Mr. Cochran was united by marriage to Miss Catharine Chillicothe, of Perry County, O., in 1841. They have raised a family of eight children, four sons and four daughters, all married except three sons and one daughter.
