James Clarke
James Clarke was born in Cornwall, England, June 15th, 1800. He immigrated to Canada in ’32; the United States in ’44, and located in Jefferson county, New York. In ’60 he came to Kansas and located in McCamish Township. He has raised a family of two sons and one daughter. His sons located in this county in ’57, and still own land in the township. His eldest son, Henry S., lives in Lawrence, and is engaged in the lumber and coal business; Adam is in the mercantile business in Chetopa. His daughter, Mrs. Hessell, lives in Leavenworth.
