W. S. Chick
W. S. Chick was born in Virginia in 1819. His parents immigrated to Saline Co., Mo. In ’22, to Howard Co. in ’26, and to Westport in ’36; being the first family to build a residence “on the hill” in Kansas City. Mrs. Chick is still living—at the age of 77—with her son-in-law Nathan Starrett, near Kansas City. W. S., married Miss M. C. Findlay of Howard Co, Mo., in ’42; they have raised a family of eight children, and now reside in the Quaker Mission building. Mrs. C. is a lady of intelligence and culture, and is conversant with much that has transpired in the vicinity of the Mission.
