Hon. D. G. Campbell,

Hon. D. G. Campbell was born Feb. 13, 1821, in Williamson County, Tennessee. His parents moved to West Tenn. When he was quite young, where he lived until ’49; however in ’40 he went to Texas, flattering himself that he would be a leading creature, as Texas was then a new country, but soon becoming satisfied that a new country was the last place to go to find fools, he returned to his native state. In ’47 he was married to Miss A. V. Cooley; in ’49 immigrated to Ouachita County, Ark.—near Camden. In ’56 he came to Kansas, locating in Wyandotte County. He came to this county in ’60, locating near Shawnee; a view of his residence will be seen in this work. In ’62 he was elected a member of the Legislature, which position he held for four years; he is a Democrat—usually takes an active part in politics, and is a fearless exponent of his views; is liberal in his religious views. He has turned his attention principally to fruit growing, and has one of the best young orchards of fine fruit in the country. Mr. C. is frequently employed as counsel in cases brought before the tribunal of justice in Shawnee.
